I think that the idea of vorpal blows is great. and it should be apllied to nearly all weapons, but only a small percentage. Of course, large powerful enemies, such as dragons for example, shouldn't be quite as suseptible to these vorpal blows, thus they should also have a %chance of being immune to vorpal blows.

I think this would allow more weapons to be vorpal, and also limit the ability to take advantage of vorpal blows when dealing with the more dangerous enemies.

I don't know.  Most of the enemies in the game are easy enough to beat as is and this will just make them easier.

That's why all of the enemies would be given a certain chance of resisting the vorpal blows. That and pehaps they would have a chance of dealing you vorpal blows as well

Now that would balance things out a bit more.

But do we really want to promote the foul language and curses that will surely follow? Cheesy

How would it be promotion of anything.  If the enemies couldn't use the same attacks as the player, we'd be accused of promoting cheating.

In 3.5E isn't there somethign where if you roll a critical, then on the roll to ensure it's a critical, if it's 20 then you roll again, and if that's a hit, the target dies?

This would make it highly interesting when party members got confused or went berserk. I don't like the idea of giving this to all weapons though. Might be an idea to make it an added bonus for grand mastery or give it to fighter types as an HLA.

That would make fighters more appealing to players.

My primary evil character is a straight fighter. Always a joy to play him, especially when he obliterates those pesky mages before they can get a spell off. Anyway, just makes sense to me that fighter types would have a chance of striking those insta-kill blows.
